Ukrainian Navy Commander Informed in Odessa When the Fleet Will Receive a New Corvette
The first corvette pioneering the upgrowth of the Ukrainian Navy will enter service in 2018. It was informed by the Navy Commander Sergey Gaiduk.

All in all, according to the programme, during five years Ukrainian Navy should be replenished with 30 warships and support vessels. At the same time the Commander stressed that completion of the program depends on the country's economy and budget filling. Hence the document is destined to the annual revising, and the program budget - to specification.
The program realization is planned to involve native ship-building, ship repairing, metallurgical, and machine-building enterprises, to attract reaearch-and-development organizations in the field of ship-building.
The corvettes of over 2.5 thousand tons displacement are supposed to be built, along with the rocket, artillery, and landing craft. The corvettes are far-faring, the cutters - are near-faring.
Until 2012 the Ukrainian Navy must be armed with submarines. Their crews training is now under discussion.
Vice-Admiral stressed that the submarines will not be large, as the Black Sea depths do not exceed 40-50 m.
